It happens to everyone… you stay in a place for long enough and you start to take for granted the beautiful scenery around you. I realised the other day that it’s been ages since I went out and took photographs of some of the cool places nearby. I live just a couple of minutes from the beach, and all up the coast there are lots of rocky features, jetty’s, (small) cliffs and so on, which make for great images especially when the sun is setting. So it’s a pretty easy job to just hop into the car, drive a few minutes, stick the tripod in the sand and take some awesome landscape shots. I went out the other evening and got blessed with about fifteen minutes of sunshine as the sun fought its way from behind the thick winter clouds. It was enough to get some pretty nice photos, so I thought I’d share them in this blog. I used the oldest trick in the landscape photographer’s handbook, putting my camera on a tripod and using a slow shutter speed to get the ‘feathered’ effect on the water. I hope they inspire you to get out and photograph your surroundings!
